Course overview

The rules regarding input tax recovery are complicated and can be subject to interpretation by HMRC. As a result, companies often make basic compliance errors or simply choose not to reclaim VAT they are fully entitled to.

This crucial half-day course will clearly explain the key input tax recovery rules - helping you maximise your reclaims, while remaining compliant with the latest guidance. It will cover many areas of expenses including: business and staff entertainment, subsistence, cars and fuel, phones, general expenses and much more.

Using HMRC internal manuals, practical scenarios and recent case law, you will leave the session with a clear understanding of how VAT officers are interpreting the rules. It will ensure you know exactly what can and cannot be reclaimed and help you avoid the common errors businesses make when completing their VAT returns.
