What we did
Blue Sea International was established in 2004 to provide a professional, efficient and flexible fund administration service to clients globally. They invited UK Training to their offices in the Isle of Man to present a bespoke training course, focusing on International Financial Reporting Standards.
What they said
Blue Sea’s Operations Manager, Nigel Chase, had the following comments after
attending the course.
“The course was excellent and a lot of hard work must have gone into it by the
presenter in order to make sure it was relevant to us as well as making the subject
very interesting. I cannot thank or praise UK Training highly enough other than to say
that the presentation was something above anything I had ever experienced. It has
excited us and more importantly given us the confidence to want to prepare our own
inhouse
accounts. Trust me, we were not looking forward to this before the course.
Being able to produce accounts inhouse
allows us to deal direct with the auditors
saving time and money which we can pass back to the funds, ultimately benefiting
the Shareholders."
What we did
Camira make fabrics which are used in commercial interiors, education, healthcare,
retail and passenger transport. Camira contacted us seeking a greater
understanding of exporting and in particular the correct application of the rules which
allow a company to gain preference. Using elements of our exporting course, we
were able to produce a highly tailored day, which focussed on Camira’s specific
needs.
What they said
Brian Ayres, Director of Supply Chain at Camira said…
John was absolutely excellent. Everyone got a lot out of the day and we now have a
knowledge platform on which to start the detailed process of confirming that all tariff
codes are correct as well as checking the validity of preference in different countries.
You have a great set up and if other experts are as knowledgeable and competent
as John was, I’d use you again.
What we did

What they said
The Internal Auditor said “The presenter was very knowledgeable and was able to
make quite a technical subject digestible to everyone.”
The Functions Finance Manager said “John made what could be a very dry technical
subject interesting. He had some great real life examples from his time working in
customs and excise.”
Finally, the Inventory Controller commented “Having no knowledge of Import
Procedures, this course has given me a very good insight. It was clear, concise and
well presented.”
What we did
Ofwat are the economic regulator of the water sector in England and Wales. When
changes were announced to the Financial Reporting Standards in the UK, Ofwat
came to UK Training seeking a course which informed them about the changes and
explained how the changes would specifically affect them and the regulatory work
they perform. We provided a tailored course which included industry specific
examples and focussed on genuine accounts from the water companies they
regulate.
What they said
The Head of Economic Modelling at Ofwat said “The trainer was excellent and very
knowledgeable. He had clearly done some specific preparation and provided
helpful, relevant examples.”
A Senior Accountant said “the course was delivered at the right level for a mixed
group. The practical examples were useful – they were not overly technical but
clearly explained the principles.”
