Course overview

Understanding and correctly administering holiday leave and pay is an increasingly complicated part of the payroll/HR function. Recent and upcoming changes in legislation and case law make it more important than ever that you are fully up to date with the application of the law in this area. Getting things wrong with holidays can lead to difficult situations with employees and even result in costly Tribunal claims.

This online course will explain how statutory holiday leave and pay works and how it should be administered and recorded. It will also illustrate the ways in which holiday leave interacts with other entitlements, such as sickness or parental leave. It has been fully updated to cover the recent reforms - explaining what they are and what you must do to be compliant. Our expert presenter will be able to answer any outstanding questions affecting your organisation regarding these complicated issues.

What will be covered?

  • Introduction to Holiday Pay - The different types of holiday pay, where they came from (EU, UK or Contractual)
  • Calculating Holiday Entitlement - How to calculate holiday entitlement for full time, part time, leavers, absences or zero hours contracts
  • Calculating Holiday Pay - Fixed hours and fixed pay, shift work with fixed hours, no fixed hours and available resources to help you
  • 2024 reforms to holiday pay entitlement - Calculating entitlement for irregular or part-year workers, accrual or rolled-up holiday option, accruing holiday on sickness & parental leave and new rules for carrying over leave
  • Interaction - How holiday pay interacts with other entitlements, such as maternity rights and sickness absence
  • Case Law - How Tribunal decisions have impacted the way we calculate holiday pay
