Article 50 is triggered
The Prime Minister, Theresa May, has today triggered Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon by giving written notice to Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, that the UK is leaving the EU in two years time.
The Government will shortly publish it’s Great Repeal Bill, which will incorporate all existing EU legislation into the body of UK domestic law. It will then be up to future Governments to decide which aspects of EU law they wish to retain or repeal.
